That tree failure in Austin changed my climb inspection routine
Last spring I did a removal on a live oak near Zilker and found decay hidden behind a perfectly healthy looking union, same species I'd climbed the week before without a second thought. The tree came down in pieces during a storm two days later, and that close call pushed me to start doing a full sounding probe on every trunk before I even rig a line. Anyone else switch up their pre-climb checklist after a specific tree surprised you?
