My old professor from UT Austin said most digs never get published and it hit me hard at 2am
She told me over coffee that around 90 percent of excavated sites just sit in boxes in storage rooms forever, and now I can't stop thinking about all the discoveries nobody will ever read about, so how do you all deal with that feeling?
90 percent is wild but did she say how much of that stuff even gets cataloged? like are we talking boxes with labels or just random bags of dirt in a basement somewhere. that part would bug me way more than the publishing side.
