Didn't something similar happen down the street last year? In my experience, if you wait even a day, the context gets totally bulldozed and then it's just a box of broken clay.

Call the historical society immediately, like drop everything and do it now! Once concrete is poured, that context is destroyed and can't be recovered. From my experience, construction crews will often downplay finds to avoid delays, so you gotta be the one to push. Even if it turns out to be nothing, letting experts check is always the right move. Most places have a protocol for this and will send someone out fast if it's legit.
