The Saqqara bird made me rethink ancient flight experiments
I was reading about the Saqqara bird artifact from Egypt, the little wooden thing with wings, and apparently it had a vertical stabilizer way before that was a normal design idea. A guy in the 60s actually built a scaled-up version with a tail and it glided for real, like over 100 feet. Idk if that proves they were testing flight, but the engineering detail blew my mind for a 2,000 year old toy. Has anyone else seen other ancient objects that look way more advanced than they should be?

Gotta disagree a bit here. Kids make toys that accidentally look like stuff all the time, and a gliding throw with a tail added later doesn't really prove ancient Egyptians were doing aerodynamics. It's a cool bird shape, not a blueprint.
