Warning: I almost skipped the museum plaque that said a Roman bone comb was found in a 2nd century trash pit
I was at the museum in Bath last month and figured the little display of bone combs and hairpins was just filler, but the plaque noted one comb came out of a trash pit dated to around 150 AD. What got me was how the teeth were cut so even, apparently with a small saw, and I had no idea that kind of fine craft went into something people tossed out. Does anyone know a good book on everyday Roman objects like this, since I clearly need to pay more attention to the small stuff?
