inWarning: That portfolio showcase event at the convention center last month changed how I organize my layers
People act like messy layers are some kind of crime but I honestly think there's something to be said for the chaos method. I've been doing digital art for about 8 years now and my layer names are still just "stuff" and "more stuff" and it works fine for me. The only time I ever had a problem was when I had to go back and edit a file I made 3 months ago and couldn't find anything. But for live demos or portfolio stuff? Who cares if your layers are named cute. The finished piece is what matters.

inThat old timer at Lowe's got me thinking about drywall mud
Old powder was less dusty" - yeah, that's true. They changed the binders sometime in the 2000s to cut costs and it never dried the same.

inUnpopular take: Those fancy new clipper blades are overrated
Feels like everything's like that now honestly. You pay more for the idea of something being better instead of it actually being better. Caught myself buying "premium" garbage bags last week, same thing, different wrapper.

inDebate: Cleaning mud off your mixer every day or letting it build up for a week?
Pretty much. People love skipping small stuff until it blows up into a $500 repair. Ten minutes of prevention saves a whole day of damage control.

inRant: My shop's insurance estimator just quoted 8.2 hours for a quarter panel blend
...and you gotta wonder if the blend standards have actually shifted, or if shops are just charging more cause they can get away with it now. I've seen some places call a "proper blend" something that barely touches the adjacent panel... feels like the goalposts moved when prices went up.
