Vent: my coworker told me to stop tracking every coffee and I listened for 3 weeks
She said it was stressing me out and I'd save the same either way, but when I added it all up I was down $87 on lattes alone. Has anyone else gone back to tracking after trying to "just be mindful" instead?
Went through the exact same thing last year and it stung. My buddy kept telling me I was obsessing over nothing and I should just relax and trust myself. Three weeks later I checked and I was spending like $60 more a month on takeout and random snacks. Being "mindful" sounds nice in theory but my brain just files that under permission to not pay attention. The tracking wasn't stressing me out, it was the only thing keeping me honest. The second I stopped looking at the numbers was the second the numbers started going up. So yeah, you're not nuts, $87 is real money and you caught it before it turned into $870.
