I finally pushed back on my $340 inhaler and the pharmacy tech just shrugged
Last week I went to pick up my asthma inhaler at the CVS on 5th Street and the price jumped from $85 to $340 with no warning. I asked the pharmacist why and she said my insurance changed their formulary, but when I called the insurance company they blamed the drug maker. The weird part is the exact same inhaler costs $28 in Canada, and I can see the factory lot number on both boxes. I filed a complaint with my state rep and got a form letter back saying they'd look into it. Has anyone actually gotten a real answer from their insurance about a price jump like this?
Did you get the shrug before or after they rang it up? That $340 is nuts when the same box is $28 up north. Insurance and the drug maker just point fingers at each other so nobody has to answer.
