PSA: That "unlimited" cloud backup deleted 4 years of my family photos

I signed up for this cheap cloud backup service thinking it was safe. After my external drive died last week, I tried to restore everything and got a message saying my account was over some limit I never knew about. Turns out the fine print said they delete old files if you go past 500GB for more than 30 days. I lost pics from my daughter's birth thru her 4th birthday. Anyone else get burned by hidden storage caps like this?

Man that's just brutal. These cloud companies hide the real rules in the fine print every time.

Dude I had the exact same thing happen with one of those unlimited services. Signed up, backed up everything for like 3 years, then got hit with a notice that they were deleting my older files because I went over some hidden cap. Lost a ton of baby photos and videos of my son learning to walk. The worst part is they didn't even send a warning until after they already started deleting stuff. I tried to argue with customer support and they just kept pointing at the fine print nobody reads. Makes me so mad because you think you're being responsible by having backups and then they just pull this garbage.
