Tried watering my snake plant every 10 days instead of 14 and it got root rot in 6 weeks

I always heard 'less is more' for succulents, so I kept a strict 2-week schedule. Decided to experiment and water more often because the soil looked dry. Within a month and a half, leaves went yellow and mushy. Pulled it out and half the roots were brown sludge. Anyone else kill a plant by trying to baby it too much?

You said "less is more for succulents" and that's the whole TRUTH right there. It's a pattern I see everywhere in life, not just with plants - people think being more attentive means doing MORE, but sometimes the best thing you can do is just back off and let things be. I've watched friends overfeed their dogs, over-text their kids at college, and micromanage their coworkers, all thinking they were being helpful when they were actually just causing rot.

The over-texting thing hits home. I've got a friend who sends her son like 15 messages a day at college and then wonders why he barely answers her calls. Meanwhile my mom just texts me a single "you alive?" every few days and we actually talk on the phone twice a week. The quiet spaces in relationships are what let people breathe and come back on their own terms. Same as with plants, you can't force growth by hovering over it.
