Unpopular opinion: asking for help at the hardware store beat 3 weeks of YouTube tutorials
Last month I spent 3 Saturdays trying to fix a leaky faucet in my kitchen in Boise. I watched maybe 14 videos and bought $60 in parts I didn't need. Finally I drove to the Ace on State Street and asked the guy at the counter. He looked at my phone photo and said "that's a $4 washer, aisle 6" and I was done in 10 minutes. So why do I keep pretending the internet knows my house better than the person standing in it?
the internet knows my house" is a great way to put it. I had the same thing with my dryer last winter, watched a guy on YouTube take apart a model that looked nothing like mine, then my neighbor walked over and had it running in 20 minutes. Turns out the local guy just knows the brands that actually get sold around here.
