Almost lost a finger to a grinder disc at the Abilene trade show, here is what I do different now
Was at a collision repair trade show in Abilene about 5 weeks back and a guy was demoing a cheap cutoff wheel on a fender. Disc blew apart, chunk flew past his face and stuck in the drywall behind him. Nobody got hurt bad but his safety glasses had a crack. I had been running the same no name discs at my place for 2 years to save a few bucks a box. Went home that night and threw out 3 unopened packs. Now I only buy the ones rated at 13,300 rpm and I check the date stamp on every disc before it goes on the tool. Also started wearing a full face shield over my glasses on any cutting job, not just grinding. Anybody got a brand they actually trust for the thin wheels? I want to hear what holds up under real shop use.
