Hot take: switching from masking tape to foam tape on door jambs cut my redo rate way down
For my first three years in the booth I taped every jamb and edge by hand with regular masking tape, and I was always chasing bleed lines on silver and white jobs. About 6 months ago a guy at the supply house in Gary showed me the soft foam tape for jambs and edges, and I grabbed a roll just to test it. Cost me about $18 a roll but my redo rate on door edges dropped from maybe one in five jobs to almost none over the last 40 cars. Sounds small but those touch ups were eating my afternoons. Curious if anyone here has tried the wider foam stuff on bumpers or if it's too thick for tight gaps?
