Noticed a massive difference with pH neutral soap on my truck's ceramic coat
Stopped by a detail shop in Portland last weekend to grab supplies and the owner talked me into trying their pH neutral soap instead of my usual car wash. I've been using the same budget soap for 3 years on my F-150 with a ceramic coating, never thought it mattered. First wash with the new stuff and the water beading came back like it was freshly applied, plus the slickness is way better. The owner said acidic soaps slowly eat away at ceramic and most people don't realize it until the coating fails early. My coating is only 8 months old but I was already seeing dull spots, now I'm wondering how much damage I did. Anyone else switch soaps after getting a ceramic job and notice a difference right away?

Wait, have you checked what the pH level is on your old soap? That's wild because I had a buddy who did the exact same thing with his Tacoma, bought the cheap stuff from the auto parts store for like two years after getting ceramic done. He only figured it out when his neighbor who details on the side asked what he was using and just shook his head. The neighbor gave him a bottle of the neutral stuff and my buddy said the difference was night and day, the water was flying off in sheets instead of leaving those weird spots. He ended up having to pay for a new coating because the old one was too far gone, and that was a way more expensive lesson than just buying the right soap from the start. So yeah, you're probably not crazy for noticing this, that shop owner might have just saved you a ton of cash.
