Putting together a low rumble exhaust for my truck showed me not all loud pipes are bad
I spent last month welding up a custom setup for my old pickup, using chambered mufflers and a bigger pipe diameter. Everyone at the garage says loud exhausts just annoy neighbors and have no benefit. From my work, I found a well-tuned system can give better throttle response and a pleasant sound at cruising speed. It's more about how you build it than how loud it gets.

So @anna_taylor, is your bike the neighborhood alarm clock now?

Disagree completely, loud pipes just sound awful and pollute the peace. Tbh it's still just noise pollution for everyone else.

Get why loud pipes bother some people, but they serve a purpose beyond noise. On a bike, being heard can mean being seen, which matters for safety. Sure, it's not always pleasant, but calling it just pollution misses the point. After a long ride, that rumble feels like part of the road, not an annoyance. Sometimes what's noise to one person is music to another.
