Hot take: I figured the self-checkout lanes were overhyped, then my post office got two of them
Back in 2019 I laughed at the self-checkout machines at the grocery store on 5th, figured they'd be broken half the time and nobody would use them. Now the downtown post office where I sort mail got two kiosks last fall and I use them to buy stamps and ship packages without waiting in line at all, which honestly saves me 10 minutes on my lunch break. The weird part is that watching a machine do a chunk of the counter job makes me wonder how long until the sorting side gets the same treatment, since we already have machines that read handwriting on envelopes. Did anyone else get won over by one of these things before they started worrying about it?
