Why does nobody talk about how much better a phone tree beats an actual receptionist for scheduling?

My dentist's office switched to an AI phone system last spring and I got an appointment in 3 minutes at 10pm, while the old front desk put me on hold for 20. Is anyone else actually happy when a robot picks up, or am I the only one?
