Bought a $1200 thermal camera for wire inspections, huge mistake
Picked up a FLIR unit last month to trace hot spots on a 737's avionics bay, thinking it'd speed up my fault finding. Turns out the resolution is way too low for the tiny traces we deal with, and the emissivity settings kept throwing false readings on the shielding. Anyone else burn cash on fancy gear that just collects dust, or did I get a dud model?
