Shoutout to the inspector who called out my wire routing

He said my bundle looked neat but was too close to a hydraulic line, a real heat risk. I started leaving a full inch of clearance after that, which feels like a lot more space. Anyone else have a simple rule they follow for separation now?

A full inch does seem like a lot. I mean, I usually just go by the rule of thumb, keep it far enough so you can't feel any heat with your hand on the line. That's always worked fine for me. Maybe it's just me but an inch feels like overkill sometimes.

Thought that too until my line melted.

Logan's hand trick is good for a quick check, but it can fool you. If the line gets hot enough to melt, you were already way too close. An inch is the safe minimum for a reason, especially with cheaper line or longer runs. Trust me, fixing a melted mess costs more time than adding that extra bit of space.
