Update: found out the average avionics tech is 54, and it hit me weird
I was poking around the AEA site after a shift and found a stat saying the average age in our trade is around 54, with only a small slice under 30. That number stuck with me because I'm 31 and I'm the youngest guy on my whole hangar floor by a couple decades. Last week I watched the senior tech next to me redo a connector with hand tools he's had since before I was born, and he did it cleaner than the fancy crimper we just got. Nobody at my shop has an apprentice lined up, and the two openings we posted in March are still sitting there. Curious if other shops are seeing this, or if it's just us slowly turning into a retirement home with a taxiway.
