Vendor onboarding took 6 weeks for what should have been a 2 day job
We signed a new IT services vendor in March and I figured they'd be live in a week. Six weeks later we were still stuck on their compliance forms and insurance certificates. Turns out every single subcontractor they use needs separate vetting and our legal team kept bouncing the paperwork back. What should have taken a few days ate up 42 calendar days and two project deadline extensions. Has anyone else found that vendor onboarding always blows way past the estimated timeline? What's your record for a simple contract taking way too long?
Look at your own timeline though: 42 days, two deadline extensions, and legal bouncing paperwork back the whole time. That reads less like the vendor blew it and more like your own approval chain was the bottleneck. Six weeks for vetting subcontractors and certs isn't crazy for IT services, so maybe the estimate was the problem, not the process.
