Spotted a bear on High Pass yesterday and it's because we're slobs.

I hiked High Pass last weekend and saw a bear right on the trail. It was digging through trash left at a campsite. This isn't the first time, my friend saw one two weeks ago near the same spot. The bear bins are all broken or gone, so people just leave food out. Now bears are getting used to humans, which is bad for everyone. If you go, pack out all your trash and be loud to scare them off. The forest service needs to fix this before someone gets hurt.

You think bears digging through human trash is normal?

Fix the bins, save the bears.

You said the forest service needs to fix this before someone gets hurt. I get it, but is it really that big of a deal? Bears live out there, we're in their home. Seeing one near trash is normal for them. Most bears just want food and will run off if you make noise. It feels like we're making a scary story out of a pretty normal woods thing.

Seriously? We're in bear country, so what does @ivans31 expect? Bears looking for an easy meal near old campsites is what they've always done. It feels like we're just noticing it more now and turning it into some huge safety crisis.
