Built a 12x16 shed deck for $612 and my neighbor asked if I hired a crew
I finished my backyard shed deck last Saturday and the total came to $612.43, which is way less than the $2,800 quote I got from a guy in town. The trick was using ground contact 2x6s from the reject pile at my lumber yard, about 40 boards at $4 each, plus a bucket of mis-tinted stain for $9. My neighbor walked over while I was screwing down the last board and asked who I hired. That felt pretty good, not gonna lie. The whole thing is 12x16, sits about 14 inches off the ground, and I used concrete blocks instead of pouring footers. Anyone else here building on blocks instead of digging, and did yours ever shift after a couple winters?
