TIL the Room has a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and still made back 6x its $6 million budget
I was poking around on Rotten Tomatoes after a buddy dared me to rewatch The Room and I saw it sitting at 0% with like 30 something reviews. Then I looked at the money side and the thing cost about $6 million and pulled in over $30 million worldwide, mostly from people going to laugh at it. I always figured these so bad they're good flicks were tiny passion projects that lost cash, so seeing a total turkey actually turn a profit threw me. Tommy Wiseau somehow won the long game and I can't decide if that's funny or annoying. What other famously awful movies actually made real money at the box office?
