PSA: Write the move-out date on the wall calendar, not in a text that gets deleted
My old roommate Dave swore up and down he paid his share of the electric bill in March, and we went back and forth about it for two days in our kitchen in Boise. Then I remembered I had written "Dave pays electric 3/1" in dry erase marker on the fridge calendar, along with every other bill that whole year. He stared at it for a second, pulled $60 out of his wallet, and never argued about a bill again. Now I write every shared expense on that calendar the second it happens, because a text thread proves nothing but a fridge door with dates on it ends the fight in about ten seconds. Anyone else keep a shared paper trail like this, or do you have a different trick that actually works?
I remember reading a story about a couple who saved their marriage with a whiteboard on the fridge, and it's basically the same idea as your dry erase calendar. Once something is written down where everyone can see it, nobody can twist the facts or claim they forgot. Your story about Dave pulling out that $60 proves the point better than any app ever could.
