Found out my sourdough starter is older than some of my coworkers, blew my mind
I was going through old baking notes and realized my starter "Betty" dates back to September 2019. That's over 4 years of feedings. My coworker Sara is 22 and she asked how old it was and I did the math right there. She was born in 2002 so Betty is older than her adult life basically. Has anyone else realized their starter or favorite baking tool has been around longer than expected?

Oh, lighten up, it's a bit of fun, not a court filing.

Betty is just a jar of flour and water, NOT a person with a birth certificate.

Is it really that big of a deal to give a sourdough starter a name, @fiona_kim? People name their cars, their plants, even their Roomba, and nobody accuses them of thinking it's a person. I think it's more about having a little fun with the process than actually believing flour and water has a soul or a birth certificate. It's not like anyone's out there trying to claim Betty on their taxes or get her a driver's license. Why take it so serious when it's just a way to keep track of the thing you're feeding every week?
