So I walk into Ray's shop on 5th last Tuesday, and while I'm waiting I see this new place across the street with a sign: $12 cuts. I'm thinking no way that's real. So after Ray finishes and I hand him my $30, I walk over just to peek. Sure enough, dude in there is doing the exact same fade, same clippers, same everything. I sat and watched for 10 minutes. The haircut was fine. Totally fine. And here's the thing - I'm still going back to Ray next month. He knows my name, he knows my kid's name, he asks about my truck. The $12 guy didn't even look up when I walked in. So my take is this: paying almost 3x for a haircut is fine and the cheaper guy is not automatically the smarter choice. Someone tell me I'm wrong though. Is there a price where you'd finally switch? Like if Ray went to $50 would I still be loyal? I honestly don't know.
