I read a challenged book to see what the fuss was about and came out agreeing with the ban
Two months ago I picked up a middle grade title that got pulled from a district in Florida, figuring the outcry was overblown like usual. Honestly the part that got flagged, a pretty graphic scene involving a kid and a dog, felt way heavier than anything my 10 year old niece needs for a school assignment, and I say that as someone who hates book bans. Has anyone else read a challenged book expecting to defend it and ended up seeing the other side?
