Our small library in rural Ohio got a grant for 50 banned books after a kid's mom complained about 'The Hate U Give'
I was at the board meeting when the library director stood up and said 'we just got approved for the Freedom to Read grant' and now we're adding 50 challenged titles (including a display case with little explanation cards) so if anyone else from a small town has successfully pushed back against a complaint I'd love to hear how you handled the awkward follow-up.

That display case idea is genius. Maybe I should put my own reading choices in a glass case with notes. "Sorry this book has cuss words, Mom.

Honestly this is just how we're all living now, right? Every conversation feels like it needs a warning label. I was at my sister's house last weekend and she literally warned me before her kid showed me a drawing because it had a "scary" cloud. We've all gotten so careful about what people might get offended by or what might upset someone. @christopherh79 I think you're onto something with the glass case approach, it's basically the same as what people do when they warn you about a movie's runtime or mention there's a sad ending. We're all tiptoeing through life putting trigger warnings on everything from books to drawings to cloud shapes now.
