The census form question that got me flagged on three forums

I found out from a 1990 Census Bureau report that they used to ask about 'mother tongue' to track immigrant assimilation, and when I posted that fact on a genealogy site, a history forum, and a local news board, all three banned me for 'promoting divisive demographics,' but the data is right there in plain sight, so has anyone else been silenced for sharing a stat that just sits in a public archive?
