Lost $80 on a recalled space heater that nearly set my garage on fire
Back in January I bought a Vornado VH200 space heater from a thrift store in Denver for $30, thinking I got a deal. Turns out that model was recalled in 2016 for overheating and catching fire, which I found out after it started smoking and melted the outlet in my garage. I lost the $30 plus another $50 replacing the damaged outlet and wiring, and I'm still finding soot on my tools. The recall notice said people should stop using it immediately and contact the company for a refund, but the thrift store wouldn't take it back. Has anyone else bought a recalled product secondhand and actually gotten a refund from the maker?
