Am I the only barber who thinks beard trims are way overpriced now?

Last week a guy came in wanting a simple beard shape up and I quoted him $25. He looked at me like I was crazy, said the shop down the street charges $40. I get that time is money but $40 for 10 minutes of work? I feel like we've all gotten carried away with pricing lately. Three years ago I charged $15 for the same thing and nobody complained. I'm starting to think we're pricing out regular guys who just want a quick cleanup. Am I wrong for keeping my prices low?

Guy came into my shop a few months back with a beard so tangled I had to spend fifteen minutes just getting a comb through it before I could even trim. Charged him my standard $20 and he tipped me five bucks like I was doing charity work. I dunno, I think barbers out here forget that a quick cleanup keeps guys coming back for haircuts too.

Somebody paying $40 for a 10 minute trim is getting robbed with a smile.

Yeah, that "robbed with a smile" line hits hard... I watched a guy at the shop next door charge $45 for a five minute buzz cut once. The customer just nodded and paid it too, like it was totally normal. I feel like some barbers forget that loyalty and a fair price keep people coming back more than a high one-time fee ever will.
