For the longest time I was using a #1 guard to blend out the bottom and it always came out patchy. An old barber in Austin told me to check my clipper speed, turns out I was running it way too slow and it was pulling hairs instead of cutting clean. Dropped to a lighter touch and bumped the speed up, night and day difference. Anyone else dealt with this or is it just me taking forever to figure out the obvious?
Back in barber school my instructor drilled it into me that clipper speed matters as much as blade depth, but I still ignored it for a year. Once I switched to a variable speed clipper and kept it cranked on the sides, muddy faded gone. The pull and snag was doing the damage, not my blending technique.
