PSA: I figured the "WD-40 and tinfoil" trick for rusty chrome was internet junk, then it worked on my 1952 Chevy bumper
Found that tip on some old forum thread from 2009 and laughed it off for months. Last Saturday I finally tried it on a bumper I pulled from a barn outside Hastings, Nebraska, and 20 minutes of rubbing took off 60 years of surface rust. The foil gets soft and grabs the rust but leaves the chrome alone. Cheap enough that I'm not mad I waited so long to try it. What drummed-up method actually worked for you on a real project?
