Question about the 1967 Ford F100 I dragged out of a shed near Ames, Iowa, and the one week everything went right
Pulled the old F100 out of a collapsed shed near Ames, Iowa, last Saturday and the owner only wanted $400 for it. Sunday I got the 390 to turn over by hand after soaking the cylinders in Marvel Mystery Oil for two days, which I honestly did not expect. Monday the title came back clean from the county clerk in under an hour, and Tuesday a guy on the local Ford forum dropped off a rust free bed for free because he was tired of tripping over it. Wednesday I found the original build sheet under the seat, still readable after sitting since 1983. Has anyone else had a run like this where every part just falls into place, or am I about to get hit with a snapped head bolt as payback?
That build sheet alone is worth more than the $400 you paid for the truck, so yeah you are definitely due for some pain. My money is on the rear main seal or the water pump, something that only shows its ugly face after you have already told everyone how great things are going. A clean title in under an hour is the part that really makes me jealous, because around here that usually takes three trips and a notary who hates you. Just enjoy the streak while it lasts, because old fords have a way of knowing when you are feeling good about yourself.
