Unpopular opinion: that black widow nest in my 1952 Farmall cub was the real restoration test
Pulled the tarp off a 1952 Farmall Cub in a barn outside Waco that had been sitting since 1987, and about six inches from my face was a black widow nest the size of a golf ball. I screamed like a kid, dropped my flashlight in the dirt, and my buddy Rick just stood there laughing while I hop skipped backwards over a rusted plow. I sprayed the whole corner down with a can of brake cleaner I had in the truck, waited 20 minutes, then went back in with a long pry bar like I was diffusing a bomb. Turns out the nest was mostly dead already but I still made Rick do the reach test with a stick before I touched anything. Got the hood off eventually and the carb is seized solid so that's my Saturday now. What's the worst thing you guys have found living in a rig you dragged home?
