I bought a vintage bike stand that was just a painted lawn chair
Saw a 'professional vintage repair stand' online for $75, and the pictures were blurry but it looked solid. It arrived yesterday, and it's literally a folding metal lawn chair with a fresh coat of black spray paint and a C-clamp welded to the arm. I'm out the cash and now have a very wobbly conversation piece in my garage. Has anyone else been tricked by a truly awful tool listing?

Yikes, that's brutal. I read a whole thread last week about fake vintage tool scams, and lawn chair conversions were a big one. Total garbage move by the seller.

Wait, they welded a C-clamp right onto the lawn chair arm? That's the part that gets me. The whole thing is a scam, but that weld must be holding on for dear life. I'd be scared to put any real bike weight on that flimsy frame. You basically paid seventy-five bucks for a safety hazard.

Ever try just using a heavy-duty bungee cord instead? I had a cheap chair like that and @nelson.vera is right, the welds are scary. Strapping it down separately felt way safer.
