Just realized the badge reader at my old office tracked every bathroom break I took for 2 years
Found this out 3 weeks ago when a buddy still working at the Irving, Texas campus sent me a screenshot from their new "space planning" dashboard. It logs badge swipes into the bathroom hallway and flags anyone gone past 12 minutes as a "wellness outlier." My old team lead used to crack jokes about my long lunches and now I know why. Anybody else get burned by a system that was way more nosy than anyone admitted?
Watched a buddy of mine go through something similar at a hospital in Plano. He worked night shift in the lab and the badge system clocked every trip to the break room. His manager pulled him aside one day with a printout showing he averaged 14 minutes away from his desk per shift. Turns out the guy had a bladder infection for a month and was too embarrassed to say anything. He quit six months later, partly over that. The creepy part is nobody told him the badges were being watched like that, no policy, no memo, nothing. I get that companies want to know where people are, but treating a grown adult's bathroom time like a metric is a whole other level. Your lead cracking jokes about long lunches hits different now that you know he had a spreadsheet backing it up.
