The vending machine ate my badge and HR laughed at me
Last Tuesday I went to grab a snack on the 14th floor and my access badge slipped out of my pocket, right into the coin slot of the vending machine. It jammed the whole thing, and the repair guy said it would take 2 days to open it up. I had to wait at the security desk for 40 minutes while they issued a temp badge, and the HR lady just said 'that's a new one' and took a photo for their newsletter. Has anyone else lost something dumb to a corporate machine, or am I the only one who can't keep track of plastic?
The part about HR taking a photo for their newsletter is what really gets me, because of course they did. You just handed them a free morale boost at your own expense, which is basically the whole point of working in an office. Next time maybe tie the badge to your belt loop with some string like a kid with a mitten.
