I used to force myself through every episode, now I skip freely
I used to power through every episode of a show no matter what, even if a character grated on me. That all changed around 2022 when I got into The Expanse and realized I was fast-forwarding through entire storylines just to avoid this one actor's delivery. It felt like homework, not fun. Then I started giving myself permission to skip, and suddenly I finished the show in a week instead of dragging it out for two months. Now with any series, if a subplot doesn't land by episode 3 in a 10 episode season, I skip it too. I track what I missed on the wiki recap page, which takes maybe 10 minutes. Does anyone else do the skip method, or am I just lazy about commitment to the full experience?
Oh man, this hits home way harder than I expected. It's like the same thing with playlists, right? I used to force myself to finish every album I started, even the filler tracks, because quitting felt like a personal failure. Then one day I just started skipping songs and suddenly music was fun again, not a chore. Honestly, I think we're all slowly learning that the "full experience" is sometimes just a trap we set for ourselves. Like with leftovers, nobody's forcing you to eat the sad, soggy fries, you know? Skipping the boring parts is just being smart about your own time, not lazy.
