That $40 streaming box I grabbed off the shelf at Target was a disaster
I saw this little Android box in the electronics aisle for $40 and figured hey, even if it sucks I'm only out $40. Got it home and it took 15 minutes just to load the Netflix app, then crashed during the first episode of Dark Winds. The remote stopped working after 3 days. I should have just stuck with my old Fire Stick or saved up for the Apple TV. Has anyone else gotten burned by those cheap no-name streaming boxes?

Thought I was being smart saving money over the Fire Stick but honestly that thing changed my mind quick. My buddy kept telling me the cheap Android boxes are garbage but I figured he was just being picky. First week was okayish then it started freezing every time I tried to open anything. Ended up tossing it in the trash after a month. Now I just stick with the name brand stuff even if it costs more because at least it works. You really do get what you pay for with those little no name devices.

Had a buddy go through the same thing last year. He bought one of those cheap boxes off Amazon for like 20 bucks and was so proud of himself. First couple days it was fine but then it started buffering on everything even basic YouTube videos. He tried factory resetting it, clearing cache, all that stuff but nothing helped. Eventually it just stopped turning on completely one random Tuesday night. He threw it in the drawer and went back to using his old Chromecast and admitted it was a mistake.
