Just realized my $20 pawn shop Sega Genesis outlasted every console I bought since
Bought it in 2011 at a shop off 8th street for twenty bucks and it still fires up Sonic 2 on the first try, while my launch day Xbox One died after two years, so what old cheap pickup is still running at your place?

That bit about it firing up on the first try is the whole thing right there, because my launch Xbox One did the same slow death thing and I paid way too much for it. Old stuff was just built heavier, like they expected you to keep it for a decade, so the parts were overkill for what the games even needed. My brother's still using the same Game Boy he got in 1994 and that thing has been dropped down stairs, left in a hot car, and chewed on by a dog at some point. New consoles are basically computers now, so they get hot, the fans clog, and the solder cracks, then you're out four hundred bucks. That pawn shop Genesis will probably be running Sonic 2 for your grandkids while your Xbox is sitting in a drawer somewhere waiting for a repair shop that charges more than the console is worth.
