Appreciation post for the guy who taught me to read rulebooks out loud
Met this older dude at a con in Columbus back in 2019. We got paired up for a heavy euro game and I kept flipping pages silently, missing half the setup. He just took the rulebook from me and started reading it like he was doing a podcast, pausing to point at the board every few sentences. Took about 20 minutes longer but nobody at the table was lost or annoyed. I've done it ever since with any new game under 3 players. Has anyone else tried this or is it just a weird habit I picked up?
