Called a guy a liar about solo board gaming. He proved me wrong.
Ran into this guy at my local game store in Portland. Said he plays 3-hour heavy strategy games alone. I laughed. Thought it was sad. He brought me to his apartment last weekend. Had Gloomhaven set up on a table with a foamcore insert. Showed me how he runs 4 characters solo. Took 2 hours for one scenario. Dude had a spreadsheet tracking every campaign choice. I get it now. Still weird but I respect the dedication. Anyone else try solo Gloomhaven?

My buddy tried it once and rage quit after three hours.

Three hours isn't rage quitting, that's a solid session where he just got frustrated and called it quits.

Did you ever stop to think maybe it wasn't about the game itself, but what else was going on in his life that day? Like, someone could have been texting him about something stressful, or he just had a crap day at work, and that three-hour mark just broke the camels back. I've done it before - had a perfectly fine time playing something, then one stupid bug or a lost fight made me snap and shut it down. It's rarely just the game making you rage quit.
