Got yelled at by a grognard at Gen Con for shuffling his precious deck wrong
Some guy in the free play area chewed me out for 5 minutes because I riffle shuffled his 40-year-old game cards. Now I always ask before I touch anyone else's stuff at cons, has anyone else run into these protective types?

Wait, he yelled at you for FIVE MINUTES? Over shuffling? I would have just walked away after like 30 seconds, that's insane. I get being protective of old cards, I have a buddy who still sleeves his Alpha dual lands in these crusty old penny sleeves (sleeves from the 90s, seriously). But a riffle shuffle on a 40 year old deck is pretty standard, they're not made of glass. Sounds like that guy was just looking for a reason to be angry that day.

Seriously, right? I had a guy at a local tournament lose his mind because I double-sleeved his commander deck after he asked me to shuffle it. Some people just want to gatekeep how you handle their stuff even when they ask for help. I swear half these collectors forget the cards are meant to be played, not just stared at in a binder.

But wait, doesn't double-sleeving kind of turn a shuffle into a nightmare? I get being careful, but slapping extra sleeves on someone else's deck without asking feels like you're fixing something they didn't think was broken.
