The moment I realized my "ethical AI" checklist was just performative

Yeah "hoping I didn't notice" is basically how every company handles privacy now.

Warning: That portfolio showcase event at the convention center last month changed how I organize my layers

You know what, I had the exact same thing happen at a small local show last fall. Some kid probably half my age looked over my shoulder and asked why my layer names were just random keyboard smashes. I felt like such a goober. Now I name stuff like "hair base" and "face shadow" and it takes maybe 30 extra seconds but saves me a ton of headache. It really is a small thing that makes a big difference when someone is watching you work. I even started color coding my groups after that, which felt ridiculous at first but now I can't go back.

I swore I'd never use a bread machine until mine saved me after 3 failed hand-kneaded loaves in one week.

The hand-kneading elitism is real but so overrated. I spent years thinking I was supposed to feel some kind of zen connection with dough or whatever, but honestly my bread machine makes better crust than I ever got from slapping dough around on my counter. Plus you can throw everything in at night, set the timer, and wake up to fresh bread without having to plan your whole day around a 3 hour rise time. The thrift store finds are the best too, I got mine for $25 and it came with the little paddle thing still in there.

Took me 4 hours to diag a bad ground on a 2015 F-150 that had me stumped for 2 days

Funny you mention that @kim.nina cause my buddy had a 2001 F-150 that would die randomly for weeks until he finally swapped the crank sensor and it never stalled again after that. Did the wiggle test first too and got nothing but a sore hand, so sometimes you just gotta trust the parts cannon over the bible of grounds right?

Heard a wild fact about how many plant species are still undiscovered

...and rowan_wells30 you made a good point about the finding and saving needing to happen at the same time. That's probably the only way it makes sense. If we just focus on saving what we know, we might lose a species that could have cured some disease or helped with crop resilience. But if we just go on a big hunt for new plants without protecting the habitat they're in, the whole search is pointless anyway. The funding thing is the real kicker, because most people don't get why we need to spend money on looking for plants nobody's ever heard of.
