Kept the old game store group, quit the new one after 3 sessions

My local game shop runs two meetup nights, one on Tuesdays that's been going for years and a new Thursday one for faster games. I tried the Thursday group for a month because the crowd was younger and more into strategy. But every session turned into people arguing over rules and someone always left annoyed. I went back to Tuesday last week and it felt like coming home, we played 3 rounds of Carcassonne and nobody checked their phone once. Has anyone else stuck with the older group even when a newer option looked better on paper?
