My friend swore by Catan for game night and I finally had to shut that down

Like for 6 months straight every time we got together he'd pull out Catan and insist it was the best game for our group. I kept saying let's try something else but he wouldn't budge. Last week I brought over my copy of Cascadia and after one round everyone was way more into it. Has anyone else had to deal with a friend who just latches onto one game and won't let it go?

@irisowens exactly right, my group loved Cascadia cause it just flows better and nobody's begging for sheep.

Oh did he try to argue that Catan was "more strategic" or something? Because honestly once you play a game like Cascadia that actually flows better and doesn't drag on for hours, it's kind of hard to go back to rolling dice and hoping for sheep. That whole trading phase always brings out the worst in people too, so I'm not surprised your group jumped ship fast.
