Unpopular opinion: the old tap and die set beat the new thread chaser on that 3/4 inch stud job in Gary
Spent two hours last Tuesday fighting a cross threaded stud with a shiny new thread chaser before an old timer handed me his 30 year old tap and die set and it cleaned the threads in about ten minutes, so now I'm wondering if anyone else still keeps a full tap and die set in their bucket.

A tap and die actually cuts new threads, a chaser just cleans the ones already there.
