Our club's bonus hole flooded last Saturday and the whole tiebreaker turned into a joke
Our club added a bonus hole two years ago, a short 112 yard par 3 tucked behind the 9th green, and I've defended it to every guy who calls it a gimmick. Last Saturday we had a 3 way tie in the member flight and of course it went to the bonus hole. Problem was, we got 2 inches of rain Friday night and the thing sits in a low spot, so there was standing water across the whole tee box and about 4 inches deep in the cup. The pro said play it anyway, so three of us stood there in mud and the first guy literally plugged his ball in the fairway like it was a dart. I chipped out sideways, the other two hit into the drink, and we ended up deciding the whole thing on who could keep their feet dry. Anybody else's bonus hole turn into a swamp when it rains, or is our drainage just the worst in the county?
